Afrikaans romantic adventure film Pad na jou Hart releases on the big screen on 14 February 2014.

Pad na jou Hart, the first Afrikaans romantic adventure film, opens in cinemas countrywide on Valentine’s Day on 14 February 2014 at Ster-Kinekor, Nu Metro and Independent cinemas.

Basson van Rensburg (Ivan Botha) has five days to make it to his father’s funeral in Cape Town, but needs to complete certain tasks on this trip before he can call the family company his own. His only chance to make it on time is to get a lift from the beautiful, free-spirited bohemian girl, Amory (Donnalee Roberts).

As they journey across the breathtaking landscape of South Africa, they meet wonderful characters that allow for hilarious moments and life-changing experiences. Their trip takes a sudden turn when a dark figure with his own agenda catches up to them on his motorbike. Basson and Amory are faced with disappointment and heartache.

On the road called life, it is inevitable that you will hit potholes and take some wrong turns. But no matter how hard the road might be, on route to true love is where you will find your true north.

Pad na jou Hart was written by Ivan Botha and Donnalee Roberts. The movie was produced by Danie Bester (The Film Factory), Ivan Botha and Donnalee Roberts (Memory Box Productions) and directed by the acclaimed Jaco Smit.

The film stars Ivan Botha (Bakgat, 7de Laan) and Donnalee Roberts (Klein Karoo, 7de Laan) as well as other well-known names such as Marius Weyers (The Gods Must Be Crazy, Die Wonderwerker) David James (District 9, Isidingo) Franci Swanepoel (Lien se Lankstaanskoene, Binnelanders) and Marcel Van Heerden (Verraaiers, The Flyer).

Pad na jou Hart was filmed over 3 300km across South Africa. The film starts in Sandton in Johannesburg, and from there the characters travel to the Golden Gate Nature Reserve near Clarens, drive over Vanderkloof Dam, they stay over in the heart of the Groot Karoo in De Aar, stop in Wilderness and end in Cape Town.

Actor, writer and producer Ivan Botha is best known for his leading role as Wimpie Koekemoer in the successful Afrikaans film trilogy Bakgat 1, 2 and 3 (for which he received a SAFTA nomination for best actor) and Pieter van Heerden in the popular SABC2 soap 7de Laan.

South African actress, writer, producer and model Donnalee Roberts is known for the lead role in the feature film Klein Karoo for which she received a SAIFTA nomination for best actress as the vibrant young fashion designer Annelie in the SABC2 soap 7de Laan.

The storie was adapted into book form by well-known writer Francois Bloemhof and will be released by NB Publishers on 20 November 2013.

The popular band ADAM and Joe Foster play cameo roles in the film and each wrote an original song for Pad na jou Hart. The soundtrack releases at the end of January 2014.
